Product performance: Leadership in action
Developing an extremely high viscosity grade of cellulose ethers
A company that used specialty cotton linter pulp (CLP) to make cellulose ethers for the construction industry faced frequent ups and downs with prices and shipments due to fluctuating supplies. They needed stability, along with the extremely high viscosity their application required.
So we developed a new product over a two-year process that involved Tembec’s R&D team, the production team at our Tartas facility, our process optimization engineers, and our quality lab. The result? A new grade of cellulose for cellulose ethers with the extremely high viscosity our customer required. It improves the performance of mortar, adhesives and joint compounds. And, yes, our customer is benefiting from the desired stability of supply and price.
